Wedding Reception Ideas | Margate Wedding Photographer

Everyone wants their wedding reception to be fantastic and memorable. Something they can look back on and smile about for months or even years to come. Here are 10 ideas to make your reception one to remember.

  1. Dance Performance- Skip tradition and go for a more entertaining route. Forgo the usual first dance and opt for a dance performance with your bridesmaids or groomsmen instead. Heck, you could do both! As long as everyone’s on board, it could be a fun and memorable part of your reception.

  2. Ballet Dancers- Sticking with the dance theme, hiring ballet dancers could be an elegant way to entertain your guests during cocktail hour or the reception.

  3. Fire Dancers- If you’re looking for something more edgy and awe-inspiring, having fire dancers at your reception is sure to capture an eye or two! Make sure you get the okay from your venue first.

  4. Interactive Champagne Servers- Why serve the champagne on a boring display table when you can have live servers dressed up as the table themselves, interacting with your guests?! It’s definitely a conversation starter and guests will be lining up to get pictures because it’s not something you see everyday.

  5. Printable Wedding Games- Give your guests a reason to engage with one another by guessing who knows you and your spouse the best. How long you’ve been together, where you met, what your favorite meal is, etc.

  6. Interactive Photo Booth- Even though you’ve hired a fabulous photographer and/or videographer to capture your big day, having a photo booth could be the cherry on top. Guests love having an excuse to show off the fancy attire and makeup they spent so much time on to come celebrate with you. Add a few props and voila! Your guests get to have fun and leave with an immediate gift, whether it’s a printed photo or digital copy sent to their phone.

  7. Smoke/Fog Machine- Add a whimsical element to your first dance by using a fog machine. It also makes a fantastic backdrop for your photos! Just make sure your venue is okay with having a fog machine used in their space.

  8. Outdoor Lawn Games- If your having an outdoor reception or have an outdoor element to your reception, consider having outdoor lawn games like corn hole, mini golf or a giant Jenga. It’s a great way to keep your guests entertained.

  9. Sparkler Kit- Another thing to consider if you have an outdoor reception is a sparkler send off. At the end of the reception, when it’s time to say goodbye to your guests, have them a grab a sparkler and line up in two rows. Then have them light their sparklers and raise them high as you and your spouse walk through. It’s such a beautiful way to end a beautiful day!

  10. Fireworks- If you want to take it a step further and really end your day with a spectacular bang, how about some fireworks. This majestic display will be the pièce de résistance to end your wedding festivities. Just make sure your venue is okay with them beforehand.
